Demonstration in Montreal : Solidarity with Gaza
community demonstration + sounds / songs of resistance
Wednesday, July 16, 5:30pm
square at métro Mont-Royal
As Israeli bombs continue to drop on Gaza lets join together and raise our voices on the street of Montreal in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
No where in Gaza is safe right now, Israeli bombings are targeting apartment blocks, factories, mosques, local shops and hitting the already distressed infrastructure in one of the most densely populated territories in the world.
Israel’s siege on Gaza, with the complicity of the Egyptian regime, ensures there is no where safe for the people of Gaza to go, colonial borderlines are closed.
Over recent years Montreal has seen important solidarity demonstrations and actions, including one this past Friday evening, lets build on this local solidarity.
Many Montreal artists have taken up the call to support the growing, global boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement against the Israeli state, inspired by the successful divestment movement against apartheid in South Africa. An open letter signed by 500 artists in 2010 expressed open support for the BDS movement.
This is a call to join together on the streets in solidarity with Gaza.
Bring your casseroles, your musical instruments, lets raise our voices and speak out together in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza. Also we will speak out against the Canadian corporate and political complicity with current Israeli attacks and more generally with the Israeli apartheid state.
