Health Professionals, Friends: Lucy Granados' Health in Jeopardy

What: Press Conference
When: Thursday, 5 April 2018 at 9:30am
Where: Immigrant Workers’ Centre, 4755 Van Horne, #110

Two weeks into the detention of Lucy Francineth Granados, health professionals and friends will detail the toll that the traumatic arrest, the humiliation and disorientation of detention, and the threat of deportation has taken on the 42-year old single mother’s mental and physical health, already compromised by years of living without status in Montreal.

Their testimony will shine a spotlight on the stress and fear inside CBSA-run detention centres, as well as the terror under which many undocumented migrants live in Canada. It will also highlight the abuse and violence of the CBSA, an agency which has no government oversight.

Lucy faces deportation on April 13th. Despite support across the country, including a Sit-In at Montreal CBSA offices launched yesterday, Immigration minister Ahmed Hussen and Public Safety minister Ralph Goodale have remained silent.
