Migrants, Supporters Unite to Call for Status for All and Reject Borders
What: Press Conference preceding march
When: Saturday, June 16th at 12pm (march begins at 2pm)
Where: Livingstone Presbyterian Church, 7110 de l’Épée, Montreal
Migrant groups will unite to march in the streets of Parc-Extension to demand status for all and to reject borders and the global system of apartheid they hold in place.
Since 2004, Solidarity Across Borders and its allies have organized an annual march demanding a comprehensive, ongoing regularization programme for all migrants in Canada without full status and an end to deportations. This year’s march is unfolding in a context of increased violence of Canada’s immigration system, with elected leaders across North America using migrants as scapegoats, and open, organized racism from the extreme right in Quebec.
In response, migrant justice groups are calling on migrant communities and supporters to unite in refusal of the isolating and disempowering case by case approach and demand status for all, now!
The march will begin at 2pm at Place de la gare, on Hutchison between Ogilvy and Jean Talon.
