Press Conference: Blind Woman Refused Vital Rehabilitation Services because of her Immigration Status in Coderre’s Sanctuary City

“Marcia”*, a blind undocumented woman, has been denied access to rehabilitation services by the Montreal Association for the Blind (MAB-Mackay), despite the City of Montreal’s adoption of a Sanctuary City declaration. These services – essential to Marcia’s safety and to her regaining autonomy – are being refused because of her immigration status.On Wednesday, May 24th, Montreal community organizations are hosting a press conference to urge Mayor Denis Coderre to resolve the situation immediately.
