Far-right racists are again mobilizing to intimidate refugees crossing the border into Canada at Roxham Road. Xenophobic and even explicitly fascist organizing in Quebec is being encouraged, directly and indirectly, by politicians in both Quebec and Ottawa calling for the exclusion of migrants leaving Trump's America.
In response, migrant justice anti-racists in Montréal are organizing an Open the Borders Rally at Roxham Road on 19 May to welcome refugees. Our presence — festive and diverse — will also effectively block the far-right racists from intimidating people crossing the border.
Journalists are invited to come hear from the organizers and supporting organisations about the importance of uniting to fight the growth of the extreme right and to open the borders.
