STOP THE DEPORTATION OF THE INCE FAMILY TO TURKEY
14th November 2016, 10am
GATHERING OUTSIDE IMMIGRATION CANADA (1010 St Antoine St West)
Organised by the Kurdish Foundation of Quebec
Today, (the 14th November 2016) at 10am, in front of the offices of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (1010 St Antoine St West), a gathering will take place against the deportation of the Kurdish Ince family planned by the Canadian authorities for in a week's time.
We all remember the little Aylan Kurdi, a young Syrian boy from a Kurdish background, drowned to death at the age of three in the Mediterranean Sea. This story, which sent shockwaves throughout world, could possibly be turned upside down in just a week from now.
Sarya, who is a little girl of 3 years old who was born in Quebec, as well as her parents will be deported to Turkey in one week. The Kurdish Foundation of Quebec invites everyone concerned by this case to participate in a gathering which will be held today in support of young Sarya and her parents Yilmaz and Cigdem Ince. They moved to Canada and setup a life here 5 years ago and are in fact now expecting their second child in a pregnancy which has been deemed at risk by doctors.
After 5 years of living in a country as democratic as Canada, the parents of Sarya are worried for their safety and security because of both past experiences under repression and the Turkish dictator Erdogan's rapid purge of all opposition, a purge in which the Alevi Kurds are particularly targeted.
Today, we will march together in a spirit of solidarity which is expressed in our Canadian values so that the future of Sarya will be different to that of Aylan.
